The Painters Palette
These activities are extension activities that can be used by any student! When you are finished with your work, choose the ones that interest you! You will need to choose 1-2 tasks (depending on the time) from the list below. You will need to let us know which ones you choose when you turn them in at the end of the hour (along with all the papers). Hard copies of all the papers are listed below the task list.
Choose your tasks:
____1. SSR w/ Dice Roll: To be used for checkout. Read for 20 minutes. You will need to grab the dice and dice roll paper to complete this task. You will need to write your response on an index card with your name on it to be turned in.
____2. Theme: Pick any theme from a fiction novel or narrative and explain how the author developed it using textual evidence. Be sure to include how the characters, plot, diction, and figurative language play a role. You will need to write this on a separate sheet of paper to be turned in.
____3. Text Structures (features): You will need to grab a Scope magazine and a scavenger form. You will use the articles in the Scope magazine to do the scavenger hunt and turn in when completed.
____4. Newspaper Article: You will choose one newspaper article and grab a checklist to go with the article. You will then highlight, label, and fill in the parts of your newspaper article using the checklist. This will be turned in when completed.
